Who We Are
The National African-American Jazz Legacy Museum (NAAJLM) is a cultural institution dedicated to preserving and celebrating the rich history of African-American jazz music. Founded in 2016 by Rosetta Funches, it is owned by the Oklahoma Black Museum and Performing Arts Center (OBMAPAC).
Our mission includes researching jazz history, providing music instruction, offering resources and learning opportunities about African-American art influenced by jazz, engaging with the community through events and collaborations, hosting live jazz performances, and showcasing jazz artifacts, recordings, and exhibitions across the United States. With esteemed historian Art T. Burton and radio host Von Coulter on our team, we invite you to explore the vibrant and influential world of African-American jazz music.
